PokerStars.com new home of KickAssPoker League

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

One of the longest running internet poker leagues is moving to PokerStars.com starting on March 11th. This is a real money league that offers bonus prizes to the winners. It is organized and managed by the team over at KickAssPoker.com and new players are always invited. It is a real money league, so you will need to get a real money account to play. The Pokerstars software download works both with PC’s and Macs and accepts people from around the world so if you want to test your skills in a competitive online poker league, saddle up and jump on board.

The “KAP online poker league” caters to the player who wants to play in a weekly online game that challenges them against other good players with modest buyins. The stakes range from $10 - $20 each week and usually there is around $500 in bonus prizes awarded at the end of each season.

The team at “KAP” said they chose Poker Stars over FullTiltPoker.com because the biggest difference was that most league members already have accounts at PokerStars so it is much easier getting funds over there and ready to play in our weekly events combined with the excellent software and sheer size of the poker room itself make moving to PokerStars a fairly easy decision.

FREE ROLL Night at Paradise Poker

Tuesday, December 13th, 2005

Free Roll Night at Paradise Poker! Woo Hoo!

Smack Dog Poker put up a free roll tonight with no prize money! What no prize money? Yes, the top 10 finishers instead gained a seat at our next buy in league event on 12/15/05. Well, I couldn’t let my money float out there for free so I had to ge tin on the action. And this in turn turned out to be a mistake.

I first play a heads up hand with someone and I hold A K offsuit with a King on the flop and all low cards up to the turn. I decide to force the action and go all in. The guy calls me and I had him covered. He turns over K 8 off suit. So I have him dominated. To the river we go and low and behold an 8 shows up and he takes down half my stack on a crappy call by him.

So now I am short stacked and I’m looking to double up. I get pocket 10’s and when the flop produces nothing of threat I go all in. I get called by Ace high. DAMN! You know what’s coming and of course it is an ace and I am out of my tournament. First out none the less!

Well, it was then time for the PAW free roll for affilaites. I started off strong taking down a good pot in the early moments of the tournament. However, this also got me playing kind of loose. This led to me calling an $800 all in with pocket 8’s only to be met by pocket Jacks. This produced a loss and knocked me down to $400 in chips.

However, I quickly was delt A 10 off suit and was pleased to see that I was called by 3 5 suited. The flop produced a straight for me and I doubled up to get back in the game. The next half hour brought me some great cards and I was quickly able to get back into the top 20 in chip stacks. This was punctuated by my flopping of two pair and someone trying to bluff me off the pot. When I reraised his $200 chip bet to $400 he folded and this landed me at over $2000 in chips.

Well, I got caught trying to take someone out with pocket 7’s when they went all in with K 8 suited. Of course flop brings a King and I can’t catch up. The very next hand I’m delt A K off suite and of course can’t get any action. oh well, no action there brought me plenty the next hand though.

I get pocket jacks and get 2 players in front of me going all in. One had me covered and one didn’t. I call and get met by 6 7 off suit and A Q off suit. The flop produces all low cards making a straight possibility for one player. However, nothing comes on turn or river to help either player and I take one out and cripple the other one and in the process almost triple up! YES, i’m back in the game!

And so quickly i’m out of the game. :( For some reason I go all in after flop with 3 10 7 on board and me holding pocket 8’s. Some sort of brain disorder I guess. Well, I got called by 10 6 suited and my night was over. Not sure why I thought my 8’s were good there. Had a massive brain fart and threw away a chance at some free money. Oh well, I was also running up against the clock to go to work so maybe that had something to do with it.

There is always next time. Smack Dog signing off.
